Charred remains of a modern society
The little girl was dancing on the street, among the entrails of a once bustling suburb now strewn chaotically across the scorching asphalt. Her blithesome essence shone through her skin, in the whimsical way she twirled and threw her arms in the air, brushing her wayward curls aside. She crafted a dust storm and trapped the sunlight in her eyes, oblivious to the rubble sinking into her toes and the loaded gun in her brothers hand.
Bang.
She fell, asphyxiated by her own storm as the bullet carved its way into her flesh. And as the last gleam of light left her eyes, poppies blossomed from the cracke

Do You Hate Me?
You are sitting on the ground, pulling grass up as you stare at the horizon in boredom. A girl walks up to you, blocking the view of the sun.
"Do you hate me?"
You blink. "What?"
"Do you hate me?" she repeats.
You stare at her. "Uh, why would I hate you?"
"You don't talk to me."
"Just because I don't talk to you doesn't mean I hate you."
"So... you don't hate me?"
You think for a moment. "Well, I don't know you, so I guess I don't hate you."
"So, if you knew me, then would you hate me?"
You stare at her. She strikes you as being very odd. You are unsure of what to say; a part of you want

instead of nestled in between the lines of my 2am poetry
because you deserve a better home than that
your name sits fervently on my lips
because I hope that with a whisper of those 5 little letters
that I can pull you from within the inscriptions on my
tree trunk ribs like a magician
pulling a rabbit from his silken hat.
I want to feel your words breathing down my neck
and your hands pressed against my quivering spine
